Could Your Work's Drinking Water Stations Be Making You Sick?

Author: R. Lee Cole,

Everybody's work has different sorts of drinking water stations. Some have those bottles that are placed upside down on a cooler. Some have fountains.

No matter what type of water your work has, I bet you think that it is pure and healthy.

Not necessarily so! Your work could easily be providing you with contaminated drinking water.

Now, I'm not saying they're doing this on purpose.

The problem is not that your place of employment doesn't care. It's probably that they don't know much about the sorry state of our drinking water.

Unfortunately, what gets piped to your house or your work might easily be contaminated with everything from pesticides to prescription drugs to lead.

Our municipal filtration systems are woefully inadequate to filter out all of the thousands of carcinogens, toxic chemicals, and waterborne pathogens that routinely find their way into what we drink.

Think I'm exaggerating about the number of carcinogens?

Ralph Nader's group did a study recently of major American water systems and found over 2,000 known carcinogens.

I wish I were exaggerating, but unfortunately I'm not.

Well, what about your work's drinking water stations? If that water doesn't come from your city's municipal filtration system, then it's okay...Right?

Not necessarily!

I don't know about your specific bottled water that your company buys, but a lot of it comes straight out of the tap!

The F.D.A. recently said that these companies' attempts to get us to think their product is pure amounts to "defrauding" the American populace.

Even if it's coming out of a bottle with a fancy label on it, what you're drinking at work could easily be contaminated!

Did you know that there are no federal regulations that would even cover your bottled water, if it's never been transported across state lines?

So, if you're drinking water stations at work aren't providing you with pure water, what can you do? I mean you have to have clean water to drink!

Buying your own bottled water isn't going to help. You're no more sure that it wouldn't be contaminated than the bottled water already at work.

Your only solution is to filter your own water at home. Or at least get one of those special bottles that filter out the impurities as you pour.

Not just any filtering system will do, however. There are a number of methods that just aren't going to provide you with the quality water you need--reverse osmosis is one of these. So, is ultraviolet light.

The best filtering systems work in two stages. They do this to filter out the impurities while leaving in the trace minerals that we actually need for out health.

If you want to know more, your next step needs to be more education. You can do this through an informative website.
